About the Role As an
Electro-Mechanical Fitter, you will work on the repair and testing of motors, gearboxes and other rotating equipment. The role involves dismantling and assessing equipment, diagnosing failures, measuring components, carrying out repairs and reassembly, followed by static, dynamic and load testing.
The position involves working both within a workshop environment and on customer sites.
Key Responsibilities - Dismantle and assess motors and associated gearboxes
- Diagnose reasons for equipment failure
- Test and measure individual components
- Assess wear, damage and component condition
- Produce scopes of work for repairs
- Reassemble motors, gearboxes and associated equipment
- Carry out static, dynamic and load testing
- Carry out electrical diagnostics, including voltage, current and resistance measurements
- Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers and depth gauges
- Remove and fit precision components
- Carry out machining and reclamation techniques where required
- Apply knowledge of limits and fits
- Support vibration and balancing activities
- Work both on site and within the workshop
- Follow all company, quality and health & safety procedures
What We're Looking For - 10+ years of relevant practical engineering experience is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of motors and associated gearboxes
- Experience dismantling, repairing and reassembling rotating machinery
- Experience diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
- Good knowledge of precision fitting and measurement
- Experience using micrometers, verniers and depth gauges
- Knowledge of limits and fits
- Understanding of electrical measurements including voltage, current and resistance
- Knowledge of vibration and balancing
- Relevant engineering qualification, HND or equivalent experience
- Full driving licence
- Strong practical and problem-solving skills
- Flexible approach to working hours, including overtime when required
