Process Technician – Extrusion - UK Skilled Worker Visa

We are currently recruiting an experienced Process Technician – Extrusion to join a well-established manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced extrusion professional looking to develop their career in the UK, combining hands-on technical responsibility with day-to-day team leadership.

About the Role

As a Process Technician – Extrusion, you will provide technical support and day-to-day leadership to the Extrusion team, helping to ensure production targets are achieved safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
You will use your practical extrusion knowledge to monitor and optimise the process, troubleshoot technical issues, support team members and help maintain consistent production and product quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate the Extrusion team to achieve daily production, quality and performance targets
  • Monitor production throughout the shift and identify technical or operational issues
  • Monitor and control the extrusion process to maintain required product specifications and quality standards
  • Troubleshoot extrusion and process issues and make appropriate adjustments to operating parameters
  • Monitor extrusion equipment and tooling performance
  • Support equipment setup, changeovers and ongoing extrusion operations
  • Work with recycled uPVC extrusion processes and co-extrusion
  • Diagnose tooling and process issues and implement appropriate corrective action
  • Monitor product quality and investigate potential causes of defects
  • Monitor, record and report downtime, waste and scrap
  • Complete production, quality and operational records accurately
  • Provide guidance, coaching and on-the-job training to team members and Trainee Technicians
  • Support the induction and development of new employees
  • Work closely with Production, Maintenance and technical teams
  • Deputise for the Extrusion Supervisor when required
  • Support trials, training and continuous improvement projects
  • Identify opportunities to improve process stability, reduce downtime and minimise waste
  • Promote good health & safety practices and maintain high housekeeping standards
What We're Looking For
  • Strong practical knowledge of plastic extrusion processes
  • Experience with recycled uPVC extrusion
  • Strong understanding of extrusion process parameters and their impact on product quality
  • Experience with water-cooling systems
  • Demonstrable experience with extrusion tooling and tool breakdowns
  • Practical experience with co-extrusion
  • Strong extrusion troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to monitor and adjust extrusion processes
  • Experience working in a fast-paced production environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and direction to team members
  • Flexibility to work shifts and weekends when required
  • Previous experience supervising or leading a production team would be advantageous
  • Experience supporting extrusion trials, process improvements or new products/tooling would be advantageous
  • Competence using Microsoft Excel and Word would be desirable
