About the Role We are currently recruiting for a
Senior Process Engineer - Packaging to lead a team within a high-volume, fully automated manufacturing environment.
The role will act as the
Subject Matter Expert (SME) for automated, high-speed packaging machines, providing day-to-day production support while driving process, equipment and maintenance improvements within the packaging area.
Key Responsibilities Process Engineering & Production Support - Lead a team of technicians providing direct support to production and maintenance teams.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of daily process and equipment issues.
- Use data-driven approaches and structured problem-solving to investigate and resolve process issues.
- Review and improve preventative maintenance programmes to reduce equipment failures and improve uptime.
- Drive improvements in overall equipment effectiveness and process performance.
- Work closely with material suppliers to ensure machine and process capability and maintain process stability.
Packaging Equipment & Process Improvement - Act as the SME for fully automated, high-volume, high-speed packaging equipment.
- Support the development and implementation of new equipment and processes.
- Establish robust process windows and support effective handover to production.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency and process capability.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the packaging area.
Quality & Compliance - Lead QN, Customer Complaint and CAPA investigations.
- Manage the change control process within the assigned area, ensuring appropriate documentation and approvals are completed.
- Ensure activities comply with the Business Quality Policy.
- Ensure existing and new tasks are appropriately risk assessed.
- Promote safe working practices across the assigned area.
Team Leadership & Development - Lead the training and development of technicians within the process engineering area.
- Carry out performance reviews and set objectives for direct reports.
- Follow the absence management process where required.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the team.
- Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
What We're Looking For Essential - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- At least 10 years' process engineering experience with people management.
- Experience with high-volume manufacturing and automated production environments.
- Strong experience in data analysis and structured problem-solving.
- Experience applying Six Sigma or equivalent problem-solving methodologies.
- Experience improving maintenance programmes and driving overall equipment effectiveness.
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
Desirable - Strong practical knowledge of packaging equipment and packaging processes.
- Knowledge of Lean techniques, including Standard Work and TPM.
- Familiarity with equipment validation and documentation within a regulated industry.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
