Fitter Machinist - UK Skilled Worker Visa

We are currently recruiting an experienced Fitter Machinist to join a well-established engineering business specialising in the repair, overhaul, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of heavy rotating machinery used in industrial environments. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled manual machinist looking for a long-term career in the UK, with visa sponsorship and relocation support available.

About the Role
As a Fitter Machinist, you will work on rotating machinery, diagnosing failures, dismantling and rebuilding equipment, measuring wear and tolerances and repairing or manufacturing components using manual machining equipment.
The role involves both workshop and site-based work and requires strong practical experience with machining, precision fitting and rotating equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and evaluate rotating machinery
  • Diagnose reasons for equipment failure
  • Dismantle and assemble rotating equipment
  • Test and measure components
  • Measure wear, damage and tolerances
  • Carry out shaft and housing repairs
  • Machine components using lathes, milling machines and grinding equipment
  • Carry out precision fitting and installation of components
  • Use micrometers, verniers and other measuring equipment
  • Apply knowledge of limits and fits
  • Work with bearings, shafts, housings and precision components
  • Carry out metal spraying and welding where required
  • Support balancing activities
  • Work both on site and within the workshop
  • Follow all company, quality and health & safety procedures
What We're Looking For
  • 10+ years of relevant practical engineering experience is highly desirable
  • Extensive experience as a Manual Machinist / Fitter Machinist
  • Strong experience using lathes, milling machines and grinding equipment
  • Previous experience repairing rotating machinery
  • Experience with shaft and housing repairs
  • Strong knowledge of precision components and fitting
  • Experience using micrometers, verniers and other measuring equipment
  • Good understanding of limits and fits
  • Knowledge of bearings, shafts and housings
  • Balancing experience would be advantageous
  • Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience
  • Full driving licence
  • Strong practical and problem-solving skills
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including overtime when required
