We are recruiting an experienced
QA/QC Inspector to join a specialist precision engineering and manufacturing business at its facility in
Glenrothes, Scotland.
This is an excellent opportunity for a quality-focused engineering professional with experience in
inspection and quality control to join an internationally recognised business working on technically demanding projects across industries including
Oil & Gas, Defence and advanced engineering.
The role would suit someone who is accurate, diligent and technically minded, with a strong commitment to maintaining quality standards and ensuring products meet customer and specification requirements.
About the Role
As a
QA/QC Inspector, you will be responsible for carrying out inspection activities across incoming goods, manufacturing processes and finished products.
You will work closely with the Quality, Engineering and Production teams to ensure products are manufactured and inspected in accordance with customer requirements, drawings, specifications and internal procedures.
The role also involves operating specialist inspection equipment, including
CMM machines and FARO Arms, with additional training provided where required.
Key Responsibilities - Inspect incoming goods in accordance with purchase orders, works orders and applicable specifications
- Support the Quality team with the manufacturability review of engineering drawings and required inspection activities
- Inspect customer products throughout the manufacturing process and at final inspection
- Ensure products meet customer requirements, specifications and quality standards
- Carry out in-process inspections during manufacture where required
- Identify and report product or process non-conformances to the Quality Assurance team
- Maintain accurate inspection records and supporting documentation
- Maintain and control the calibration of internal inspection equipment
- Report damaged, defective or misused inspection equipment to the Quality department
- Operate CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) equipment for inspection purposes
- Support CMM programming where required, with appropriate training provided
- Operate a FARO Arm for in-process and final inspections
- Interpret engineering drawings and relevant drafting symbols
- Apply basic trigonometry in inspection and measurement activities
- Maintain safe, clean and organised inspection areas
- Work collaboratively with Engineering, Production, Quality and other departments
- Complete all required administrative and inspection documentation
- Comply with company policies, procedures and health & safety requirements
- Support the business in achieving its quality and operational objectives
What We're Looking For - Recognised engineering apprenticeship or demonstrable experience working as a QC/QA Inspector
- Previous experience within a medium to heavy engineering environment
- Experience within the Oil & Gas sector would be advantageous
- Previous experience using gauging and precision measuring equipment
- Familiarity with CMM inspection equipment
- Knowledge of engineering drawings and drafting symbols
- Good working knowledge of basic trigonometry
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of an inspection team and independently
- Proactive approach with the ability to use initiative
- Flexibility to work shift patterns and reasonable overtime when required
