We are recruiting an experienced
Automated Welder to join an internationally recognised precision engineering and manufacturing business specialising in advanced welding and protective weld cladding solutions for pipeline components.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled welder with
Oil & Gas experience to develop their career within a highly specialised manufacturing environment, working with automated welding equipment and producing high-quality components to demanding customer specifications.
About the Role
As an
Automated Welder, you will be responsible for setting, operating and programming automated welding equipment and carrying out welding operations in accordance with approved procedures and specifications.
The role requires a strong attention to detail, a commitment to quality and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. You will also contribute to production efficiency, continuous improvement and maintaining high standards of quality, traceability and health & safety.
Key Responsibilities - Set, operate and program Polysoude and Fronius control vertical and horizontal welding rigs
- Carry out welding operations in accordance with approved procedures and customer specifications
- Perform GTAW welding processes to ASME IX standards
- Perform SAW welding processes to ASME IX standards, where required
- Carry out orbital butt-welding using Arc Machine M15-type heads, where experienced
- Complete and submit weld data sheets for validation
- Ensure components are correctly identified and traceability is maintained throughout the production process
- Ensure components meet required specifications and quality standards
- Complete all required inspection, production and quality documentation
- Ensure JIS tasks are correctly booked on and closed in accordance with applicable procedures and codes
- Contribute to improving productivity and efficiency within the department
- Support lean manufacturing and good housekeeping practices
- Follow departmental Health & Safety, tooling and continuous improvement procedures
- Support the training of colleagues where required
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Ensure customer requirements are consistently achieved
What We're Looking For - Previous experience as a time-served Welder
- Relevant experience within the Oil & Gas industry would be highly advantageous
- Strong practical knowledge of welding processes and products
- Competence in GTAW welding to ASME IX
- Experience with automated welding equipment
- Experience with Polysoude or Fronius welding systems would be advantageous
- Experience with SAW welding to ASME IX would be advantageous
- Experience with orbital butt-welding / Arc Machine M15 heads would be advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Good understanding of production and quality requirements
- Ability to follow welding procedures, specifications and technical instructions
- Good computer literacy
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to use initiative
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work rotating day and night shifts
